Samantha Majerus - Biography

About the Artist

Plein air and still life oil paintings

Samantha is an oil painter based in Falls Church, Virginia. She grew up drawing and painting from life, studying classical techniques at Silvermine Arts Center in Connecticut and locally through the Yellow Barn and Art House 7.

At the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, she majored in culture and politics, taking both figure drawing and art history courses. Over the last few years, she has focused on faster, more gestural oil paintings to capture an emotion or moment, using bold colors and brush strokes.

She works from life, inspired by the bright colors and organic shapes found in fruits and flowers, setting up still life arrangements and working outside throughout the DC area on plein air landscapes. Samantha has enjoyed getting to know the local arts community, currently working out of Studios at 307 in Falls Church and as a member of the McLean Arts Society and Falls Church Arts.

Most artwork included on this website is available for sale. If you are interested in commissioning a piece, please reach out as well. You can also follow Samantha on Instagram to see works in progress and get information about local events and exhibitions.
